August 2009 - Nancy Watkins - Stockton’s Assistance League
Nancy Watkins is the immediate past president of Stockton’s Assistance League, part of the national philanthropic organization working to meet community needs not otherwise being served.

Last year through “Operation School Bell” the Stockton branch provided new clothes for 1,400 children referred by their schools. On last December’s Branson trip Nancy collected a full bag of shampoos, soap and lotions to be included in the students’ packets.

You can help Stockton’s Assistance League through monetary donations or donations to their thrift shop, located at 1323 E. Harding, Stockton The store is open M 12-4 and T-Sat 10-4.

September 2009 - Dave Pyle - United Way of San Joaquin County
This month we are featuring the philanthropic work of our traveler Dave Pyle with the United Way of San Joaquin County which has the mission of providing funds and awareness to support county nonprofit organizations, specifically in the areas of education, health and finance.

When I asked Dave’s position with the United Way the director answered “Saint” (those of us who know Dave agree that he’s one of the biggest hearted and hardest working people around). Officially he’s the volunteer coordinator for VISTAS (Volunteers In Service to Aid Stockton), the Mayor’s committee.

On September 15th United Way kicks off its annual campaign with a luncheon at the Stockton Civic Auditorium. For tickets contact Donna at 320-6206. The cost is $20 per ticket or $300 for a table of 10. United Way is hosting a drive for Packed with Pride, which sends care packages to our troops. Those attending the luncheon are encouraged to bring white socks, men’s deodorant, or individual powdered drink mixes which can be added to bottled water.

December 2009 - Packed with Pride
Setness Tours supports Packed with Pride a nonprofit organization that provides care packages to our deployed troops.

Packed With Pride supports U.S. troops by sending packages and letters containing necessities and goodies to deployed military men and women wherever they are and whenever they can.

On Thursday, January 14th, Setness Tours will be donating a large care package in the name of our travelers. If any of you would like to write letters or donate items, drop them off at our office before January 14th and Setness Tours will get the items to the location for shipping.

If you would like to make a monetary contribution, a $12.00 donation can sponsor one complete package for a service member. Donations of any amount are always greatly appreciated. You may make checks payable to Packed With Pride or Setness Tours.
