Watch hundreds of colorful balloons ascend into the desert sky at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Explore beautiful Santa Fe and ride the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad. Visit the Taos and Acoma Pueblos. Stay two nights in Albuquerque and three in Santa Fe.

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Friday, October 7     Albuquerque & Acoma                                 (L)
Fly to Albuquerque, staying two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn. Enter ancient Acoma Pueblo, set high on a mesa for protection from maudauding Indians.
Day 2 Saturday, October 8         Balloon Mass Ascension & Balloon Glow                     (B, L, D)
Just after dawn, watch the Mass Ascension, the Balloon Fiesta’s signature event where hundreds of colorful balloons rise in waves from the desert floor. Learn about turquoise at the Turquoise Museum. At tonight’s Balloon Glow you may walk among the hot air balloons softly glowing from the light within. (Weather permitting)
Day 3 Sunday, October 9          Tram Tour of Santa Fe & History or Art                            (B, D)
Spend the day in Santa Fe, the old Spanish capitol, end of the Santa Fe trail, part of Route 66 and fine art mecca. Take a tram tour of Santa Fe, exploring its 500 years of history and its modern beauty. Choose a free afternoon to 
explore the city, visit the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, or the oldest public building in the United States, the Palace of Governors. Stay three nights at the Hilton Santa Fe.
Day 4 Monday, October 10          Taos Pueblo, Kit Carson & Art                                          (B, D) 
Tour the 1,000 year old Taos Pueblo, set beside the Sangre de Christo Mountains, before free time around the Taos Square. Visit the home of explorer Kit Carson. 
Day 5 Tuesday, October 11 Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad                                   (B, L, D) 
Travel through Northern New Mexico’s desert landscape, made famous the painters such as
Georgia O’Keefe. Ride the scenic Cumbres & Toltec steam railroad into southern Colorado. Its path through steep passes and deep gorges was an engineering feat for the time. 
Day 6 Wednesday , October 12                                                                                               (B, L)
Visit the Sanctuary of Chimayo, known as the “America’s Lourdes.” Shop for Chimayo Chilies and other New Mexican foods.

90 or less days prior to departure - no refund
