Day 1 | Tue., Sept. 16th Forestiere Underground Gardens and Eberle Wine Tasting (L)
Travel south on Highway 99 to Fresno. Tour the incredible Forestiere Underground Gardens, built by
Baldassare Forestiere, an immigrant from Sicily, over a period of 40 years from 1906 to his death in
1946. Enjoy wine tasting at the Eberle Winery in Paso Robles. Founded in 1979, Gary Eberle first
specialized in Cabernet Sauvignon to compete with the Bordeaux region of France. In 1994, the winery
expanded underground, building the first wine caves in Paso Robles. Continue on to San Luis
Obispo for a three-night stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton San Luis Obispo. |

Day 2 | Wed., Sept. 17th SLO Mission Tour, the Madonna Inn & the Melodrama (B, D)
Enjoy a tour of the San Luis Obispo Mission. The mission was founded September 1, 1772 by Father Junípero Serra. The mission was built in San Luis due to the areas surplus of natural resources, a large food supply and good weather. Enjoy a free afternoon for shopping in the downtown or time at the hotel. We continue our tour of the area with a visit and dinner at the Madonna Inn. Founded in 1958 by Alex and Phyllis Madonna, they designed a theme
hotel which blended European and Western styles. The Inn is known for its unique decor, pink dining room, themed guest rooms and the famous rock waterfall urinal in the men’s restroom. This evening, the highlight is The Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville. The performance tonight, will be their 50th Anniversary Spectacular: highlighting their favorite songs, dance and comedy or the last 50 years. |

Day 3 | Thurs., Sept. 18th Luncheon Cruise, Morro Bay Museum & Sensorio (B, L, D)
Travel north to Morro Bay with time to explore the embarcadero. The city was founded in 1870 as a port to export dairy and ranch products and is named for the great rock in the form of a round morro. Enjoy a wonderful luncheon Cruise on Morro Bay where you can view the wildlife such as sea lions and pelicans. After our cruise we will visit the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History, which offers cultural history, Native American life, geology and oceanography. The highlight of the day will be Sensorio. When the sun goes down in the hills of Paso Robles, the lights come up at Sensorio, one of California’s largest immersive art exhibitions. Walk easy paths through the Field of Light which features more than 100,000 glowing bulbs, like bioluminescent flowers from a
jewel-toned fantasy land.

Day 4 | Fri., Sept. 19th Travel to Salinas, National Steinbeck Center, Casa de Fruta (B, L)
Today we travel to Salinas for an early lunch at First Awakenings. Enjoy a guided tour of the National Steinbeck Center, a museum and memorial dedicated to the author John Steinbeck, located at the California State University, Monterey Bay at Salinas City Center.
On our way home, we will have a rest stop at Casa de Fruta in Hollister. Opened in the 1940’s as a cherry stand, Casa de Fruta welcome over 2 million visitors a year an a wonderful place to shop. |
