Experience the Pageant of the Masters, a fabulous stage production where life imitates art as classic paintings and sculptures are re-created with living models and presented in an amphitheater under the stars, with a full orchestra and live narration.  

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Sun., August 8          Travel to Costa Mesa/ Newport Area                                 (L)
Travel to Southern California, stopping for lunch en route. Arrive in the early evening for a three night stay at the Ayers Hotel in the Costa Mesa/Newport area. 
 
 
Day 2 Mon., August 9        Newport Harbor & Pageant                                           (B, D)
Cruise Newport’s opulent harbor, passing the homes of the rich and famous. Return to the hotel to relax in the afternoon before departing for the Art-A-Fair art show, and dinner on its grounds. Explore the Festival Arts before the spectacular Pageant.
Day 3 Tues., August 10           Gamble House                                                     (B, L)
Tour two of Southern California’s stately mansions on Pasadena’s “Millionaire’s Row,” known for their beauty and their historical and architectural significance. The Gamble House was built by David Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company. 

The house, which was featured as Doc’s home in the film Back to the Future, is a National Historic Landmark and a true example of the American Arts & Crafts-style architecture. After a luncheon tea in Pasadena visit the Fenyes Mansion, a 23-room Beaux Arts mansion where a docent-led tour will give a glimpse of the elegant lifestyle that existed during this magnificent period in Pasadena’s history.

 
Day 4 Wed., August 11          Autry Museum                                           (B, L)
Tour the Autry Museum of the American West a jewel of a museum with works by artists such as Frederic Remington, an outstanding collection of Native American artifacts, and movie memorabelia.

Activity Requirements and Trip Advice -Some activities require walking, up to 4-5 blocks at a time. Touring the mansions includes some stairs and some standing. High-heeled shoes are not allowed at the mansions. The Pageant of the Masters is outdoors in the evening. Bring binoculars, a sweater or jacket, and you may consider a lap robe.
