It was Charles Darwin’s visit to the Galapagos Islands that inspired the theory of evolution contained in his famous book, On the Origin of the Species. On these islands there are no natural predators, so giant tortoises, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, sea lions and more have no fear of mankind, allowing up close viewing.
