Relax with three days in some of America’s most beautiful  country, touring old and new
Monterey, traveling along scenic 17 Mile Drive and the top of Big Sur.

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Wednesday, November 6th                          Gardens & Apples                                         (L)
Enjoy a hosted luncheon at Gilroy’s Old City Hall Restaurant, built in 1905, before touring
Sierra Azul Nursery and Gardens, a two-acre demonstration garden, adorned with sculptures. Gizdich Ranch will be harvesting its prize apples. Enjoy a slice of homemade pie and a brief tour of the orchards. Arrive in Monterey and check into the Victorian Inn, your boutique hotel for the next two nights. Located right on historic Cannery Row, it is walking distance to countless shops and restaurants.  Relax with a wine and cheese reception.
Day 2 Thursday, November 7th                             17 Mile Drive                                              (B, D)
Meet your local guide and naturalist for a tour of the Monterey Peninsula, learning about the Spanish and Mexican histories of “old Monterey” versus “new Monterey,” and the history of Cannery Row that inspired author John Steinbeck. Travel through beautiful Pacific Grove and charming Carmel-by-the-Sea. Stop at the scenic Lone Cypress and Pebble Beach.  The afternoon provides several opportunities to explore at your leisure.  Enjoy lunch
and shopping in either Carmel or along Cannery Row.  You’ll also have the opportunity to visit Monterey Bay
Aquarium (additional cost). Tonight, join your fellow travelers for the wine and cheese reception at the hotel
followed by dinner at Old Fisherman’s Grotto on the historic Monterey Wharf.
Day 3 Friday, November 8th                                       San Juan Bautista                                     (B, L)
Depart Monterey this morning and head east to discover California history in San Juan Bautista. Begin with a docent-guided tour of Mission San Juan Bautista. Founded on June 24, 1797, by Father Fermín Lasuén of the Franciscan order, the mission was the fifteenth of the Spanish missions established in present-day California. Adjacent to the mission, San Juan Bautista State Historic Park also offers a look into the past. The park includes several structures built in the 1800s, including the Plaza Hotel, the Zanetta House/Plaza Hall, the Plaza Stables, and the Castro-Breen Adobe. Many of the interiors are furnished with vignettes or colorful and informative exhibits. The park also features a blacksmith shop, a historic jail, and an early American settler’s cabin. Lunch is included in nearby Hollister. On your return home, pause at popular Casa de Fruta. Arrive home in the late afternoon.
