Explore our nation’s capital from its memorials and  Smithsonian Museums to the U.S. Capitol. Witness the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery and visit George Washington’s  Mt. Vernon Estate. Take two evening illumination tours of the memorials. 

Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Thurs., Oct. 2nd       Fly To Washington DC          
Fly to Washington D.C., staying six-nights at the The Hamilton, Washington D.C. 
Day 2 Fri., Oct. 3rd             Memorials and the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum                    (D)
Begin by exploring our national memorials, then Explore the Air and Space Smithsonian Museum with the Wright Brothers plane and the Apollo 11 command module. This evening is the first of two illumination tours, stopping at the Lincoln, Vietnam War, Korean War and WWII memorials.
Day 3 Sat., Oct. 4th           Arlington Cemetery & Mt.Vernon                                       (L)
Watch the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknown 
Soldier and stand at the eternal flame guarding President Kennedy’s grave site. Dine at George Washington’s Mt. Vernon Estate before touring his home and plantation.

Day 4 Sun., Oct 5th      Smithsonians & Illuminations     (D) 
At the National Museum of American History view the First Ladies inaugural gowns, Judy Garland’s ruby
slippers, and Julia child’s kitchen. The Museum of Natural History is home to the Hope Diamond as well 
as a living coral reef and Egyptian exhibit. This evening’s illumination tour includes the FDR, Martin Luther King, and Marine Corps (Iwo Jima) Memorials. Finish with the spectacular view of the National Mall from Lincoln 
Center’s rooftop.
Day 5 Mon., Oct. 6th           Annapolis & Ft. McHenry        (L)
Tour the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Visit the Main Chapel and see the crypt of John Paul Jones and view the largest dorm in the United States then dine on base. In the afternoon visit Fort McHenry, inspiration for the Star Spangled Banner. 
Day 6 Tues., Oct. 7th  Gettysburg National Military Park      (D) 
Visit the Gettysburg National Military Park, site of the Civil War’s bloodiest battle. The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee’s second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Tonight we have a farewell dinner.
Day 7 Wed., Oct. 8th         U.S. Capitol & Ford’s Theatre       
Today we will tour the U.S. Capitol and Ford’s Theatre before flying from Dulles International to California, returning by motor coach to San Joaquin County.
